Before we get to the seven trumpets, we need to discuss the matter of the angel in Revelation 8:3
The Angel Who Carries Our Prayers
In the mysterious book of Revelation, there’s a scene where an angel steps forward. This angel holds a special container called a golden censer. Imagine it like a fancy incense burner.
What Does the Angel Do?
Collects Prayers: The angel is given incense, which represents the prayers of God’s people. Picture all our heartfelt prayers rising like fragrant smoke.
Stands Before God: The angel stands near the heavenly throne, where God resides. It’s like a sacred meeting place.
The Big Question: Who Is This Angel?
Symbolic or Real? Some think the angel is a symbol, representing how God interacts with us. Others believe it’s a real being.
Not Jesus?: Although some say it’s Jesus, the evidence isn’t strong. Jesus has a bigger role than just being an angel.
Priestly Connection: The angel’s actions remind us of priests in the ancient temple. They used to burn incense while people prayed outside.
Maybe Michael? Some suggest it’s Archangel Michael, a powerful warrior. But the text doesn’t say for sure.
The Bottom Line
We won’t solve the mystery here. But one thing’s clear: This angel takes our prayers and offers them to God. So, as we pray, let’s imagine that fragrant smoke rising, connecting us to heaven.
